The energy is gradually renovated in Sri Lanka after buildings remaining in a national outgoing building, including hospitals that rely on the generators.
Officials say it may take a few hours to return to the island’s nation, but medical facilities and water purifiers have been prioritized.
Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody allegedly blamed a monkey due to a power outage, saying that the animal “contacted the grid transformer, which causes imbalance in the system,” the AFP news agency said.
According to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), the power outage caused a sub-station south of Colombo and did not give any further details.
“Engineers are involved in trying to restore the service as soon as possible,” the minister said.
The CEB said: “We make every effort to restore the power outage of the island as soon as possible.”
Hospitals and businesses of 22 million people are used by generators or inverters.
