Google Maps is officially updated The name of the Mexican Gulf is the American Gulf on Monday.
Among many other enforcement orders, President Donald Trump, on the day of his inauguration, decided to be named the Mexican Gulf as the American Gulf. This enforcement order reverses the moving of the Obama era to renamed Mount McKinley to Denali, which has been used by indigenous people for centuries. Similarly, the Mexican name was the most common name Since the 16th century for the water body.
President established that these names are part of a gesture that points to the (restorative) American pride about the history of American magnitude.
Since Monday afternoon, the United States Google Maps users have seen the name of Mexican Bay in America. International users will see both names, while Mexican users only see it in the Mexican Bay. Already in January, Google stated that it would meet Trump’s executive order after the place names were updated in the United States Geographical Names Information System.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said he would send a letter to Google and questioning the company’s decision to renamed Mexican Bay on Google Maps. But Google’s decision to change the name of the Gulf is in line with its existing policy on navigating the differences between countries. Google changes the maps to coordinate the user’s local government.
While Google followed Trump’s order, Apple has not yet updated the name of Mexican Bay or Denali for MAPS. When searching for “America Gulf”, the application was looking for Apple Maps, the app did not produce results.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook both participated in Trump; Cook personally Donated $ 1 million to Trump’s founder base while Google also made $ 1 million contributionOr
