Nuclear Startup X-Energy added $ 200 million to an existing $ 500 million C series.
The small module reactor specialist previously announced an agreement with Amazon in October, which included investment and development agreements to build a 300 megawatt nuclear power plant in the northwest of the Silent Ocean.
New investors include Ares Management, Laurene Powell-Jobs Emerson Collective, Jane Street and Segra Capital Management.
X-Energy is one of the many nuclear start-up companies that received a boom in the AI-controlled data center, along with Trump’s administration, supporting nuclear energy.
The company’s XE-100 reactors are expected to generate 80 megawatt electricity or are sufficient to feed about 50,000 houses.
Reactors are nourished by the so -called triso fuel, which is designed safer than the most commonly used fuel bars. Each “pebble” fuel contains about 18,000 poppy-sized carbon-coal uranium particles and filled a single reactor 200,000 pebbles.
X-Energy expects the first reactor to appear online for Amazon in the early 2030s.
According to the company, the new financing promotes the design and authorization of the reactor and the construction of the first phase of the fuel manufacturing plant in Tennessee Oak Ridge.
