The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team is directed towards nature-based carbon dioxide chips ncvrs.com

Few fans associate the Formula One race with sustainability, but is probably inadequate for a sport that glorifies burns, the aim of the championship is to reach zero-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.

For F1 teams, this is not as easy as burning sustainable fuels on racing engines. In fact, cars are responsible for less than 1% of the team’s carbon footprint. The vast majority come from everything else, including race -oriented logistics, business travel, office space, computers and so on.

To counteract some challenging sources, Mercedes-amg Petronas’s team will buy 5500 tonnes of carbon dioxide from Chestnut Carbon, which plants forests in degraded agricultural areas in the southeast of the United States.

Credits are submitted from 2027 to 2030. Total for the team’s 2023 emissions approx. Represent 10%. Mercedes-amg Petronas aims to reduce emissions by 75% by 2030 and reach zero-zero carbon dioxide emissions in 2040.

While Mercedes-Amg Petronas’ new carbon purchase is small, the team has made an agreement with Frontier, Stripe, Google, Meta, Shopify and others supported by Advanced Market.

Chestnut Carbon recently closed an agreement with Microsoft for 7 million tons of carbon dioxide and raised $ 160 million in the B series round. The purpose of the departure is to provide 100 million carbon dioxide credit by 2030.
