The non-opioid analgesic drug made by Vertex Pharmaceuticals received approval for adults from the Food and Medicine Agency (FDA).

Vertex CEO Reshma Kewalramani called Journavx “the first new class approved over more than 20 years” and added that the company had the opportunity to “change the paradigm of acute pain treatment and create a new care standard”.
